What is a Browser Use Cloud browser?
A Browser Use Cloud browser is a real Chromium browser running on Browser Use's servers. You create one with a single API call, drive it over the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) with Playwright, Puppeteer, Stagehand or the browser-use agent, watch it live, and stop it when you are done. Stealth, CAPTCHA solving, residential proxies, saved logins and recordings are built in, at $0.02 per browser-hour with no subscription.
- $0.02 / hour
- pay as you go, no subscription, stealth and CAPTCHA solving included
- 90.5%
- of visits got through on 100 bot-protected sites in Stealth Bench V2; Anchor next at 82%
- 493 ms
- median to create a browser, connect over CDP, load a page and release it (BrowserArena, October 14, 2026)
How a session works
- 1
Create
POST https://api.browser-use.com/api/v4/browserswith yourX-Browser-Use-API-Key, orclient.browsers.create()in the Python or TypeScript SDK. Optional fields pick the proxy country, a saved profile, recording, screen size, CAPTCHA solving and a timeout from 1 to 240 minutes (default 60). The response carriesid, cdpUrlandliveUrl. - 2
Connect
PasscdpUrlto any CDP client: Playwright'sconnectOverCDP, Puppeteer'sconnect, Stagehand v3'slocalBrowserLaunchOptions.cdpUrl, or the browser-use agent. The same browser can run your script and an agent, one after the other. - 3
Watch
Open or embedliveUrlto see the browser and take over a login or a CAPTCHA by hand. WithenableRecording, an MP4 is ready once processing finishes after the browser stops, atrecordingUrlonGET /api/v4/browsers/{id}. Live preview docs. - 4
Stop
client.browsers.stop(id), orPATCH /api/v4/browsers/{id}with{"action":"stop"}. Closing the CDP connection does not stop the browser or its billing; the timeout does, if you forget.
Built for production, with receipts.
Tradeoffs.
debugger_address only accepts a local host and port; use Playwright or Puppeteer. Recordings are MP4 video, off by default, with no DOM replay. One browser runs at most 4 hours. Stagehand v4 needs its own browser extension, so use Stagehand v3. Not the fastest to start: on BrowserArena, Tilion and Kernel create sessions faster. What is inside every browser
- API
https://api.browser-use.com/api/v4: POST /browsers, PATCH /browsers/{id}. SDKs:browser-use-sdkfor Python and TypeScript.- Protocol
- Chrome DevTools Protocol over WebSocket, from the cdpUrl. Playwright, Puppeteer, Stagehand v3, browser-use or any CDP client.
- Live view
- A liveUrl for every browser: watch, take over, or embed it in an iframe.
- Recording
- MP4 with enableRecording, off by default. Ready once processing finishes after the browser stops: poll GET /api/v4/browsers/{id} for recordingUrl.
- Profiles
- Cookies, localStorage and logins persist across browsers with profileId.
- Proxies
- Residential in 195+ countries at $5/GB, US by default, picked per browser with proxyCountryCode; customProxy for your own, or none. Direct and bring-your-own-proxy traffic is $0.20/GB.
- Stealth and CAPTCHAs
- Our own hardened Chromium build, fingerprints randomized per session, automatic CAPTCHA solving on by default. How it works.
- Session length
- 1 to 240 minutes, 60 by default.
- Concurrency
- 10 on a new project, up to 1,000 by total paid, more on enterprise. Usage tiers.
- Price
- $0.02 per browser-hour, no subscription, credits never expire.
Questions people ask
What is a cloud browser?
A real browser that runs on someone else's servers and that your code or agent controls remotely, usually over the Chrome DevTools Protocol. You get a fresh, isolated browser on demand instead of running and scaling Chrome yourself.
How is it different from running Playwright on my own machine?
Your script logic stays the same. Create the browser through the API, replace chromium.launch() with chromium.connectOverCDP(cdpUrl), and stop it with client.browsers.stop(id) in a finally block: browser.close() only disconnects and does not stop billing. The browser runs on our servers with a hardened Chromium build, residential proxies and CAPTCHA solving, so it gets into sites that block a stock headless Chrome, and you can run many at once without managing machines.
Does it work with Stagehand?
Stagehand v3 connects with env "LOCAL" and localBrowserLaunchOptions.cdpUrl set to the browser's cdpUrl. Stagehand v4's localBrowser.connect() looks for its own browser extension and failed to connect in our test of 4.2.1, so use v3, or Playwright directly. Stagehand's server-side caching and Model Gateway only run on Browserbase.
Can I watch or take over the browser?
Yes. Every browser returns a liveUrl on live.browser-use.com. Open it in a tab or embed it in an iframe; anyone with the URL can click and type in the live browser, so treat it as a credential. Set enableRecording for an MP4: it is ready once processing finishes after the browser stops, at recordingUrl on GET /api/v4/browsers/{id}.
How many can I run at once, and what does it cost?
$0.02 per browser-hour, plus $5/GB for residential proxy traffic or $0.20/GB for direct or bring-your-own-proxy traffic, with no subscription. A new project runs 10 browsers at once; the limit rises with the total the project has paid, up to 1,000, and beyond on enterprise terms. Eligible new signups get a one-time $1 credit.
