Is there an ideal keyword density?
Google's SEO starter guide and spam policies give no target density. The spam policies list repeating the same words or phrases so often that it sounds unnatural as keyword stuffing.
How are words counted?
Your browser's word segmenter splits the text, so café, don't, dark-roast, robots.txt and 3.5 are one word each, and Chinese, Japanese and Thai are split into words. Phrases stop at . ! ? ; : |, spaced dashes and line breaks. Stop words: the Snowball English list, 174 words.
What does the URL check read?
The page's original HTML, up to 1 MB and 5 redirects, without running JavaScript. Main content only reads the main or article element without its nav and asides, or the body without header, footer and nav. Nothing is stored.
