# Sitemap Finder: Find and Check Website Sitemaps

## Free Sitemap Finder

Find a website's sitemaps from robots.txt and common paths, then check each one: HTTP status, type, URL count and newest lastmod.

## How it works

Each sitemap shows its redirects, type, URL count and newest lastmod. Index files list their child sitemaps, each with a Check button.

### Which places are checked?

Up to 10 Sitemap lines from /robots.txt (the rest are listed with a Check button), then /sitemap.xml, /sitemap\_index.xml, /sitemap-index.xml, /wp-sitemap.xml and /sitemap.txt. A URL counts only if it returns a urlset, a sitemap index or a plain list of URLs. RSS and Atom feeds are shown but not counted. An HTML page is not a sitemap, even with HTTP 200.

### Why is a sitemap missing?

It is not listed in robots.txt and lives at another path, the site blocks automated requests, or it is behind a login. Some sites have none.
